Where Are Assetto Corsa Setups Saved? Setup Folder and How to Load Them
The exact Assetto Corsa setup folder, how to load a setup in the pits, how to share one and why a setup sometimes doesn't show up.

Someone sent you a setup, you downloaded it and it doesn't show up in the game. Or you want to save yours before changing anything. It all goes through the same folder, and once you know how it's organised you'll never lose a setup again.
The setup folder
Assetto Corsa saves setups in your Documents folder, not in the game folder:
Inside setups there's one folder per car and, inside each car, one per track. Each setup is an .ini file with the name you gave it when you saved it.
- [car] is the car's internal name, not the one you see in the menu. For example, Kunos's Porsche 911 GT3 R is ks_porsche_911_gt3_r_2016. You'll find it in the game folder, under content\cars.
- [track] is also the track's internal name (for example spa or ks_nordschleife), the same one that appears in content\tracks.
- If you create a folder called generic inside the car's folder, any setups you put there can be loaded at any track.
How to load a setup in the game
- Go on track with that car at that circuit and stay in the pits.
- Open the car's setup screen.
- Click load: you'll see the list of setups in that folder (car + track) plus the ones in generic.
- Pick one and head out on track. If you change something and like it, save it under a different name so you don't lose the original.
Why a setup doesn't show up
It's almost always one of these three things:
- Wrong track folder. If the file is in another track's folder, it only shows up at that track. If you want it everywhere, put it in generic.
- Documents is on OneDrive. Many Windows installs keep Documents on OneDrive, and the game may be using a different folder from the one you're opening. Look for the Assetto Corsa folder in both locations.
- The car name doesn't match. A setup for a mod only works with that mod. If you have a different version of the car, its internal folder may have a different name.
How to share a setup
Just send the .ini file. Whoever gets it has to copy it into their Documents\Assetto Corsa\setups\[car]\[track]\ folder, with the same internal names. If they don't know the exact track, they can drop it in generic.
